On August 7, 2007, San Francisco Giants player Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run, giving him the record for the most home runs hit by a single player in his career. And while baseball fans debate whether Bonds truly owns this record in light of his alleged performance-enhancing drug use, legal scholars also debate the question of who legally owns the ball.

Thanks for the interesting episode. It was fun to listen to all the court's reasoning as to how the conclusion was reached. I like that Popov and Hiyashi agreed to split the proceeds from selling the ball.

I'm confused by the latter part of your blog post. The majority of the blog was dedicated to explaining the court case involving Popov and Hiyashi. Then, all of a sudden, the next-to-last paragraph begins with, "If a court were to follow this case, it would decide that 22-year-old Matt Murphy owns the ball...." Who the heck is Matt Murphy and how is he suddenly showing up in the story? He was not mentioned anywhere previously in the blog. Does this have something to do with the 756th career home run ball rather than the 73rd season home run ball? If so, I think you've left some explanatory details out of your story. But otherwise, a very interesting blog post!

Hi, I really like your podcast. The information is useful and in the homerun ball case, unusual and interesting. I was wondering if you could cover gym memberships and/or contracts and what protection consumers have when they are promised one thing and then told another. Thanks!!
